History of the Peloponnesian War — who's who

The History's cast is relatively small given its scope: a handful of Athenian statesmen and generals, a few Spartan commanders, and the largely anonymous Athenian demos whose votes drive the war's great turning points. Thucydides is parsimonious with biography — he gives you the man only as much as the war requires.
